Common Questions
We provide affordable dental implants, crowns and smile rehabilitations in Melbourne. See below for commonly asked questions.
1. Is the complete dental implant really $2,799?
Yes. For a suitable healed site with adequate bone, the $2,799 package includes implant placement, the implant fixture, a custom titanium abutment, a monolithic zirconia crown, standard scans or impressions, crown fitting and routine reviews.
2. Does the $2,799 price include the final tooth, or only the implant screw?
It includes the complete implant-supported tooth. The titanium implant, custom abutment and final zirconia crown are all included, rather than the price covering only the implant fixture placed into the bone.
3. What could make my implant cost more than $2,799?
Additional costs may apply if you need a tooth removed, bone grafting, sinus treatment, a temporary tooth, sedation, treatment of infection or more complex aesthetic work. These items are charged separately because not every patient requires them.
4. How do I know whether I qualify for the $2,799 price?
The package generally applies where the tooth is already missing, the site has healed, there is adequate bone and the gums are reasonably healthy. A dentist must examine the area and review appropriate imaging before confirming suitability.
5. What if the tooth has not been removed yet?
The extraction is priced separately. A simple extraction is generally $250, while a surgical extraction is generally $450. More difficult extractions are assessed and quoted according to the treatment required.
6. Will I definitely need bone grafting?
No. Many implant sites have enough bone without grafting. It is only recommended where the available bone is insufficient to place the implant in an appropriate, stable and maintainable position.
7. How much does bone grafting add to the cost?
A minor simultaneous bone graft generally starts from $595. An extraction and socket graft package is generally $895, while larger guided bone regeneration or sinus grafting procedures may cost more.
8. Can you tell me the total price before I start treatment?
Yes. After assessment, you will receive an itemised written treatment plan showing the implant package, any clinically required additional procedures, optional choices and the total anticipated treatment cost before you decide whether to proceed.
9. Why is your implant price lower than many other clinics?
The lower price is supported by a standardised treatment workflow, selected implant systems, centralised purchasing, digital scanning, custom titanium abutments and coordinated laboratory production. Necessary clinical treatment is not removed simply to reach a lower price.
10. Does a cheaper implant mean a lower-quality implant or crown?
Not necessarily. Price differences can reflect the clinic’s operating model, purchasing, laboratory workflow, location and overheads. The proposed implant system, abutment and crown material should still be disclosed and discussed before treatment.
11. What implant brand do you use?
We use selected implant systems that support a reliable and efficient surgical and restorative workflow. The specific implant system proposed for your case will be disclosed before treatment begins.
12. Will I have a tooth while the implant is healing?
This depends on the location and your preferences. A temporary tooth is not included because many patients replacing a back tooth do not need one. Removable and fixed temporary options are available at additional cost where suitable.
13. Can the tooth be removed and the implant placed on the same day?
Yes, in many cases it can. Immediate placement depends on infection, remaining bone, gum condition and whether the implant can achieve adequate stability. In other cases, the extraction site must heal before implant placement.
14. How long does the full implant treatment take?
Treatment usually includes planning, implant placement, a healing period, a scan or impression and fitting of the final crown. The overall timeframe varies according to healing, bone quality, grafting and the location of the implant. Typical timeframe is 3-6 months from when the initial implant fixture is placed until the crown is delivered.
15. Is dental implant treatment painful?
Local anaesthetic is used during implant placement. Some tenderness, swelling, bruising or discomfort can occur afterwards. The amount and duration vary between patients and according to the complexity of the surgery.
16. How long should a dental implant last?
Dental implants are intended as a long-term treatment, but no implant can be guaranteed to last permanently. Longevity depends on gum health, cleaning, smoking, general health, biting forces and ongoing professional maintenance.
17. What happens if the implant fails?
An implant that does not integrate may need to be removed. Depending on the circumstances, the area may be allowed to heal, grafted, retreated later or managed with another replacement option. Any additional costs depend on the circumstances and written clinic policy.
18. Is the initial consultation free?
The initial implant suitability consultation may be offered at no cost. Standard planning X-rays may also be included, including CBCT imaging, where clinically required.
19. Is the $985 zirconia crown price genuine?
Yes. For a suitable posterior tooth, the $985 package includes tooth preparation, a digital scan or impression, a temporary crown where required, a monolithic zirconia crown, fitting and routine adjustment.
20. What could make my crown cost more than $985?
Additional costs may apply if the tooth needs root canal treatment, a fibre post, major core build-up, removal of an existing crown, crown lengthening, gum treatment or management of deep decay or fracture.
21. Does the $985 crown offer apply to front teeth?
No. Front teeth often require more detailed shade matching, layered ceramic, photographs, aesthetic planning and additional laboratory work. Anterior and premium aesthetic crowns are assessed and priced separately but are typically no more than $1185.
22. What happens if the dentist finds more damage underneath my old crown?
The tooth must be reassessed after the existing crown and decay are removed. It may still be suitable for a new crown, or it may require a build-up, root canal treatment, post, crown lengthening or extraction.
23. Do you offer lower pricing for several crowns, implants or a bridge?
A multi-unit fee may be available where several restorations are planned and completed together. Planning, scans, temporaries and laboratory work can sometimes be coordinated more efficiently, although the final price still depends on complexity and materials.
24. Do you provide veneers and complete smile rehabilitations?
Yes. Larger cases may combine crowns, veneers, implants, bridges, bonding, whitening and gum treatment. These cases require more detailed planning and are not priced simply by multiplying the standard single-crown fee.
25. What extra costs can apply to a smile rehabilitation?
Possible additional costs include digital smile design, diagnostic wax-ups, trial smiles, temporary restorations, whitening, gum contouring, crown lengthening, root canal treatment, posts, implants, orthodontics and an occlusal splint. These are itemised before treatment.
Clinical FAQs
What is bone grafting?
Bone grafting is a surgical procedure performed to augment the jawbone before implant placement. This is necessary when there is insufficient bone density or volume to support a titanium implant.
What is the treatment process?
The process involves a clinical assessment, followed by the extraction of the tooth if necessary, bone grafting, and finally, the placement of the titanium implant and zirconia crown.
How long does healing take?
Healing times vary based on the individual and the procedure. Most bone grafting procedures require 6 to 12 months of healing before a dental implant can be placed.
How are costs determined?
Costs are determined through a clinical consultation. Extractions, grafting, temporary teeth, and sedation are quoted separately to ensure total transparency.
Are sedation options available?
Yes, we offer a range of sedation options, including IV sedation and oral sedation, to ensure your comfort and relaxation during the procedure.
Is the treatment affordable?
Yes, we offer transparent pricing through participating clinics in Melbourne. Our package is designed to be accessible while maintaining the highest clinical standards.
